RIP Roger
Roger (better known to many of us as Titans) passed away today.
His forum, along with Galaxy's old site, were some of the first non-Yahoo Defectors web addresses at which I pointed my browser back when I was none of: a playoff team, the guy behind most of the league's upkeep, and that a-holewho rubs a lot of other managers the wrong way (wo bist du, Wolfram & Hart?).
I don't recall participating in any of the other forums on that site (you might notice some old team names as the most 'recent' posters) but that site was the weak glue that held us together during those long and confusing aught winters.
This is a good moment to mention the cat on the site's banner. That's Shadow. Roger talked about, and cared more about, that cat than baseball (even his longrunningly-awful Buccos) itself. I was looking on the Walk in the Park forum earlier this year for that excellent photo Sour mashed on our former league site with Willie Harris breaking Mets fans' hearts but I couldn't find it. Most of the photos (or links) have faded into the internet ether. However, I did mention to salvage one. And while that photo was mostly put up in jest before, it will surely not be going anywhere now.
May where you are now be nearly as beautiful as the view from home plate at PNC Park, Roger.
